  • Unlock 5.0 guidelines issued in Sept to be in place till November 30  

    The Centre on Tuesday made no new changes in the fresh unlock guidelines issued for November. The Ministry of Home Affairs in a statement said the Unlock 5.0 guidelines that last month allowed the reopening of cinemas, theatres and multiplexes with up to 50 per cent of their seating capacity will remain in force till November 30. 

     

    “The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order today to extend the guidelines for re-opening, issued on 30.09.2020, to remain in force up to 30.11.2020,” a statement issued by the government read. 

  • Schools in Delhi to remain shut till further order: Sisodia 

    Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has recently made a statement that the schools in the capital will remain closed till any further orders are issued in this regard. This step is being taken because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

  • Coronavirus Latest News: Mizoram records first COVID-19 death 

    A 62-year-old man died of COVID-19 on October 28,  in Mizoram, the only state where until now there were no fatal cases even though India's tally touched 80,00,000 cases and 1,20,010 people succumbed to the virus since January 30, when the first case was reported in the nation. 

    Mizoram's Directorate of Information and Public Relations tweeted, “The first COVID-19 related mortality in Mizoram comes as a huge shock to the entire state.” 

  • 33.1 per cent voting in Bihar till 1 PM 

    Vote in 16 districts of Bihar for the first phase of Assembly elections as per trends till 1 pm, the Election Commission has registered 33.1 per cent votes in these districts with the maximum 40.16 per cent reported from Lakhisarai followed by 38.08 per cent in Nawada, and 34.76 per cent in Buxar. The voting percentage in other districts such as Bhagalpur was 34.34, Banka 33.11, Munger 31.84, Shekhpura 29.49, Patna 34.74, Bhojpur 32.15, Kaimur 34.75, Rohtas 30.26, Arwal 30.55, Jahanabad 32.32, Aurangabad 33.32, Gaya 32.90 and Jamui is 31.37 percent. 

  • Fire breaks at Salt Lake Durga Puja pandal 

    A devastating fire broke out at a Durga Puja pandal (marquee) in Kolkata's Salt Lake locality on October 28. The incident took place at the Salt Lake FD Block Durga Puja pandal. No casualty was reported. 

  • LG launches 2 smartphones 'Wing' & 'Velvet' in India 

    LG today announced its two flagship smartphone 'LG Velvet Dual Screen' and 'LG Wing' with swivel displays in India. It will be available for Rs 36,990 (single screen) starting October 30 and the second screen can be bought as an accessory for Rs 13,000. 

  • Bihar elections: PM Modi warns voters of 'Prince of Jungle Raj' 

    Without directly naming anyone Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his attack at Muzaffarpur, as he addressed his second rally of the day. In Bihar votes for phase one, the PM warned the people of Muzaffarpur of the 'Prince of Jungle Raj' in an apparent reference to Tejashwi Yadav and the 'kidnapping industry' of the past. 

  • Goa casinos to open from November 1 says Sawant 

    The casino operations in Goa, which had been suspended on account of the COVID-19 pandemic since March this year, will restart on November 1 with 50 per cent capacity, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on October 28.  

     "Casinos will start from November 1. We have permitted them," Sawant told a post-cabinet press conference on today.
