  • VP Naidu suggests State Governments to Encourage Green Buildings

    Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today suggested the State governments, Finance Commissions & local bodies to encourage green buildings by way of tax incentives & other measures.  Inaugurating the CII's Green Building Congress 2020 through virtual mode, Naidu said, “It is time to consider making all new buildings to mandatorily go green and environment-friendly.  The Vice President emphasised that not only new buildings but the existing buildings too must be retrofitted to make them environment-friendly by adopting green practices that promote energy efficiency and water conservation. 

  • Delhi University: DUSU takes problems on Online Open Book Exam to Administration 

    While the second and third-year students have started to adopt the online mode as the medium of classes and also examinations, a delegation of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) met the Dean (Examinations) to resolve technical errors which have emerged in recent results for the open book exam for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 

    "We requested the Dean to ensure that every student should appear for upcoming even semester exam and online attendance should not be taken into the count as eligibility criteria for appearing in the upcoming odd semester examinations," DUSU said. 

  • WB Deputy Speaker Sukumar Hansda dies of cancer 

    West Bengal Legislative Assembly deputy speaker and Trinamool Congress MLA from Jhargram constituency Sukumar Hansda (67) died of cancer at a private city hospital on October 29. The Trinamool lawmaker was admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital but was shifted to a private medical facility a few days ago. Earlier, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. 

  • IPL betting racket busted in Capital, three nabbed 

    Indian Premier League (IPL) gambling racket was busted and three persons were arrested by Delhi police in Kotla Mubarakpur area of south Delhi.  The police on wednesday received a tip-off about an IPL betting racket operating at Saini Basti in Kotla Mubarakpur.  "At nearly 10.33 PM. a raid at a house in Saini Basti was conducted after complying with all the legal aspects," said Atul Thakur, DCP, South Delhi. Three persons were apprehended on the spot while they were operating the gambling racket through their phones. 

     

  • Former Gujarat CM Keshubhai Patel passes away at 93 

    Former chief minister Keshubhai Patel, who led the first BJP government in Gujarat in 1995, passed away at 93 years at a hospital in Ahmedabad due to health complications. 

  • Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Suspended By President Over "Misconduct" 

    The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi Yogesh Tyagi has been suspended on President Ram Nath Kovind's orders, the union education ministry said on October 28, amid a major row over appointments that spawned an ugly power tussle.
