  • Gram Unnati Organizes Training Camp for Farmers in Nuh

The training camp was organized with the help of Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) in the Nuh district, which is known for its tomato production. Farmers in this region rely heavily on the sale of tomatoes and other vegetables as one of their primary sources of income, and they invest a significant amount of time, money, and effort to produce the highest quality possible to maximize their profits. Gram Unnati's awareness sessions covered a wide range of topics, including the selection of scientifically recommended seeds for the area, nursery management, soil preparation, transplantation, and so on, with a focus on pest and disease management. Six training sessions were held in Nuh's various villages.

Increased wheat production might persuade India, the second-largest producer of grain in the world, to reconsider easing a May export ban on the main grain, brushing aside concerns about chronically high retail inflation. Farmers are growing wheat on fallow land in the west, where farmers have historically grown pulse and oilseeds, despite the fact that the wheat area has practically plateaued in the traditional grain belts of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Using chemical fertilizers and crop care chemicals has affected soil fertility, raised toxicity build-up, and led to declining or stagnant production over the last two decades. High concentration of nitrates, ammonium, and free sugar in the plants due to excessive chemical nutrients like Urea & DAP is making the crops more vulnerable to pest and diseases. The bio-farming/ organic farming has been able to demonstrate the elimination of chemical fertilizers and experienced a substantial reduction in infestation of harmful pathogens and pest attacks in the crops. 40 years of observations in organic farms have shown that disease and pest infestations have been substantially lower.
