  • Why We Celebrate World Brain Tumour Day?

    World Brain Tumour Day is celebrated every year on 8th of June. Brain tumour is the 10th leading cause of morbidity in India. According to the GLOBOCAN 2018 report by the International Association of Cancer Registries associated with the World Health Organization, in India more than 28,000 cases of new brain tumour cases are reported annually. As many as 24,000 patients died battling this neurological disease. Main symptoms of brain tumour are – vomiting, headaches, blurred vision, difficulty in physical movements etc.

    The IMD said on Sunday said that Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into the interior parts of Rayalaseema, South Karnataka, Northwest & West-central and Northeast Bay of Bengal, even as it hit almost all of Tamil Nadu, Southwest Bay of Bengal & East-central Bay of Bengal.

  • Arvind Kejriwal Undergoes Self-Isolation Due to Illness, Coronavirus Test Tomorrow

    Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, had been feeling feverish with a sore throat since Sunday afternoon. As the symptoms resembles from that of Covid symptoms, the Minister has chosen self-isolation and will be testing for Coronavirus tomorrow. According to AAP MLA Raghav Chaddha, Kejriwal hasn’t come in direct contact with anyone since Sunday afternoon and had attended few meetings over video conferencing only.

  • A Sharp Decline in Tea Exports Expected

    Despite steady demand from the markets, tea exports are likely to register a fall of 10-20 percent. Low production and resultant higher prices are considered to be the reason behind the decline. As per reports, India exported approximately 248.29 million kg of tea in 2019 while in value terms, it fetched around 5 per cent higher price and sold at a unit price of ₹ 225.81 a kg in 2019, as against ₹ 216.16 a kg in 2018.

  • Low-Intensity Earthquake Hits Delhi 

    A low-intensity earthquake of magnitude 2.1 has struck near Delhi today (June 8, 2020). This is the ninth earthquake to hit the Delhi in the last two months. The epicentre of the earthquake was near Gurugram in Haryana, as per India's National Center for Seismology. The earthquake was struck at 1pm at a depth of 18 km, as per the agency. Tremors were felt in Delhi, Noida & the surrounding areas for a few seconds. 

  • 79 Government Doctors Test Positive for Covid-19 in Hyderabad in two weeks 

    At least 79 government doctors have tested positive for COVID in Hyderabad in the last two weeks, said a Resident Doctors Association. As per reports, 49 doctors at Osmania Medical College, 26 at NIMS, and 4 at Gandhi Medical College have tested positive of Corona virus. On the other hand, several lab staffers, nurses and paramedics have also tested positive. 

    “Doctors and staff require more protective gear. We are also hearing a number of doctors of private hospitals also testing positive and they are being treated at the hospitals where they work,’’ said Dr. G Srinivas, the president of NIMS Resident Doctors Association.

    Amid the nationwide corona crisis, BJP government has found a strange admirer for their handling of Covid crisis. As per reports, Editor of Pakistan’s ‘Dawn’ newspaper, Fahd Hussain, has appreciated the way the Uttar Pradesh government handled the Cvid crisis with stricter implementation of the lockdown. 

  •  Covid-19 Drugs Update: BSVL to Conduct Trials on Severe Sepsis Drug with ARDS 

    Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSVL) Ltd on Monday said that it has received approval from the country's drug regulator to held clinical trials on existing drug ulinastatin for potential treatment of COVID-19 patients who are suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). It is to be noted that the company will join leading pharma firms Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Strides Pharma Science that have already started clinical trials for potential covid-19 drugs.
