How to Make Kishmish (Raisins) at Home? Read the Whole Process

More than half of the world’s raisins (Kishmish) come from California, but do you know that the best ones might just come from your own home. Yes, you can make raisins at home in a few simple steps! Read to know more.

The addition of raisins is frequent in many Indian sweets. Raisin is a dry fruit with the ability to improve the flavour of any meal to which it is added. While kishmish is readily available in supermarkets, you can always make it at home to assure the highest quality and freshness. 

To make Raisins at home; you will need only one ingredient- Grapes! This fruit is loved by Indians in all forms-fresh, dried (Raisins) & liquid (juice). Moreover, it is that time of the year when grapes are available in the plenty in the markets. So, if you want to experiment and make raisins at home, go & get some from the market before the grapes’ season gets over! 

How to Prepare raisins from Grapes without oven at Home? 

The recipe is quite simple, and very useful. You can prepare raisins or kishmish for very less money & use it all year long.  

Step 1: Take well-ripened & sweet grapes. You can choose the quantity of your choice. 

Step 2: Pick the green grapes & rinse them well. 

Step 3: Next, take an idli cooker and arrange the grapes in the idli plate (Alternatively, you can use any other perforated plates as well) 

Step 4: Steam the grapes for 5 mins 

Step 5: Spread them on a clean cloth or a thick plastic sheet or a tray. Keep them under sunlight for drying. 

Step 6: In 2-3 days the grapes will shrink and will be completely dried and Voila! your homemade raisins are ready.
