Vitamin E is a nutrient that is required by the body to support the immune system and help in regenerating cells. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties too that help in maintaining everyday health.

Vitamin E helps in rejuvenating your skin as it is not a single vitamin, but is a group of fat-soluble vitamins having antioxidant effects. Therefore, it is a nutrient and as well as an antioxidant.

Vitamin E oil is derived from vitamin E and thus can be applied directly to the skin, or added to lotions, gels and creams. It can be purchased from any health food store or online.

Various Fruits and Nuts are a good sources of Vitamin E: 

Fruits are not the best sources of vitamin E, but provide good amounts of it. Fruits like Kiwi, mango, avocado, blackberries, olives, cranberries, raspberries, and apricots are high in Vitamin E. 

Nuts and Seeds are among the best sources of vitamin E. Many of the seeds and nuts like Almonds, Hazelnuts, Peanuts, Pistachios, and Cashew Nuts are high in alpha-tocopherol which is a form of vitamin E. 

Benefits of Vitamin E oil:

Vitamin E oil is different from vitamin E supplements as it is subjected to direct application to the skin.

Many skin care products have vitamin E oil as an ingredient; especially anti-aging components.

1. Hyperpigmentation

Too much Melanin ( due to excessive hormone secretion or other causes) can cause dark patches on the skin. This condition is believed to be moderately treatable through the use of topical vitamin E oil.

Some studies show using vitamin E with vitamin C can treat hyperpigmentation effectively.

2. Skin Moisturizer

Vitamin E Oil is added to many moisturizers to prevent or treat dry and flaking skin. Being an oil-soluble nutrient and  Vitamin E is heavier than water-soluble products. Thus, it restores the lost moisture.

3. Prevents Skin Aging

The antioxidant property of Vitamin E improves blood circulation. Topical forms of Vitamin E such as Vitamin E oil slow down the skin-aging process and these can make your skin look youthful.

4. Reduce Stretch Marks

Applying vitamin E oil to the skin can increase levels of the nutrient in the skin tissues. Thus, reducing the appearance of stretch marks.

5. Reduces skin Itching

As Vitamin E moisturizes the skinit may offer temporary relief from itching. But it cannot treat allergic reactions or infections, and other issues that cause skin itching.

6. Promoting nail health

Some research suggests that vitamin E supplementation can help in preventing yellow nail syndrome, which causes cracking and yellowing of nails.

Vitamin E oils may support nail health due to their moisturizing effects by preventing dry skin and cracked cuticles around the nail bed.

7. Sunburn Prevention

Being a powerhouse of antioxidants Vitamin E  neutralizes the effects of free radicals caused by UV radiation, thus soothing sunburns.

8. Cleansing Agent

Being a heavy emollient and Vitamin E helps in getting rid of dirt and other impurities while simultaneously maintaining the skin's oil balance.

How to use Vitamin E Oil on skin:

1. Wash your face.

2. Gently pat dry the face.

3. Take a warm towel and wrap it around the face for 2-3 minutes. This allows your pores to open up.

4. Take a small (pea-sized drop) amount of the oil. Gently rub the oil into your skin. Don’t be harsh on your skin.

5. If you have dry skin, you can leave it overnight. If you have sensitive skin, wash it off after 15 minutes.

*For even great benefits, add few drops of vitamin E oil to a thick moisturizing cream. This helps in enhancing the cream’s moisturizing benefits.
