Coromandel Celebrates “Stewardship Day” To Educate Farmers’ About Crop Protection Products

Being a responsible Agrochemical company, Coromandel International limited celebrated Farmers’ Day as ‘Stewardship Day’ on 23rd December with the objective to educate farmers regarding the responsible use of crop protection products.

Being a responsible Agrochemical company, Coromandel International limited celebrated Farmers’ Day as ‘Stewardship Day’ on 23rd December with the objective to educate farmers regarding the responsible use of crop protection products. 

Stewardship Champions were Nominated Division Wise 

Apart from senior leadership of CPC conceptualizing the event, the entire team from sales & marketing, Plant team, and Bio team planned the day with the zeal to help and guide farmers towards chemical safety and make this event a historical one, thus, in a vision of making an integral relationship with them as well. As a part of planning, “Stewardship champions” were nominated division-wise to have coordination among the team and these stewardship champions were POC for all planning and execution of activities.

Farmers’ meetings were planned territory-wise, and in these meetings, it was mandated to include a farming influencer as well. Discussions were revolved around using the right product, purchase, storage, importance of product label, and safe spraying. The marketing team demonstrated the product labels and use of PPE and right spraying equipment in detail. The team extensively covered safe spraying including detailed measures to be taken before, during, and after spraying the pesticides. 

More Than 5000 Participants Benefitted 

Stewardship alternatively resonates with being responsible towards the farming community. A total of 121 Stewardship meetings were organized across India with the objective to reach farmers through in-person meetings as well as online reach. A total of more than 5000 participants were benefitted from the mega event including Farmers, Channel partners, institutional stakeholders, Media partners, etc. through online and offline mode.

Participants in the meeting included influencers like Local leaders, KVK scientists and Officials, Research station Scientists and officials, and influencer farmers. Thoughtful and well-designed safety awareness posters were shared in all the farmers’ Meetings.

Addressing the Stewardship Day meeting at the Coromandel Head Office, N. K. Rajavelu, EVP and SBU Head, Crop Protection Business said “Stewardship helps create a special bond with the end-users and farmers. Today is indeed a historic day for all of us in Coromandel as we dedicate the day to spreading the message on Responsible use. 

Dr. Rajul Edoliya, VP and Head of Business Development & Regulatory Affairs, who spearheaded the initiative said, “Good stewardship work happens every day in Coromandel, but at least once a year, we have all stepped up to reach tens of thousands of growers just in one day. To me, this program speaks of our superpower for sustainability and collaboration”.

Stewardship Journey to Educate Farmers’ & Other Stakeholders 

As the Head of Stewardship Champions, Satish Tiwari, Sr. GM & Head Expert Marketing addressed the meeting at KVK Gaddipally, Suryapeta. “This has been our own way of celebrating ‘Kisan Diwas’ this year. In past celebrations, we have conducted training sessions on “Responsible Pesticide use” at leading Agriculture universities of the country, to reach the message to students. We will continue our Stewardship Journey of educating farmers as well as all other stakeholders.

Apart from the physical meetings, digital outreach was also numbered hugely. As part of digital outreach, messages were sent out via social media networks and emails that amplified the reach to farmers as well as other stakeholders. Live of Stewardship meeting was broadcast on our Facebook page “Coromandel International Limited,” he said. 

This meeting was one of its kind in the Agrochemical industry. Apart from the Sales & Marketing team, safety meetings were also organized at Coromandel’s Technical, formulation, and Biomanufacturing plants as well as the HQ and Divisional offices to improve the level of awareness among all the employees too.
