FMC India, an agricultural sciences company, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana, one of the country's premier agriculture universities. The collaboration is part of FMC's multi-year scholarship program for renowned agricultural schools in eight Indian states, with the goal of promoting agricultural talent.

The MOU was signed in August in the presence of Dr. Sandeep Bains, Dean, Post Graduate Studies, and other Directors, Deans, and Heads of various departments of the university by Dr. Anandakrishnan Balaraman, Director, Research & Development at FMC India, and Dr. Shammi Kapoor, The Registrar, PAU.

FMC will award four scholarships each year to Punjab Agriculture University students pursuing doctorate and master's degrees in agricultural sciences under the terms of the agreement. FMC will collaborate with the university to identify and develop the brightest students' interests in science and research. To encourage more women to pursue careers in agricultural sciences and research, 50% of the scholarships have been designated for female candidates. In addition to the scholarships, FMC will strengthen its long-standing collaborative research efforts and ongoing strategic alliances with the university.

"The FMC Science Leaders Scholarship Program was created to provide more opportunities for aspiring scientists to develop their skills in agricultural research. Furthermore, through the FMC scholarships, the awardees will have the opportunity to intern and receive industry mentorship for their overall development. This will encourage students to pursue rewarding careers in the agricultural industry and, eventually, contribute to Indian agriculture by resolving emerging farming community problems," said Dr. Anandakrishnan Balaraman, Research and Development Director at FMC India.

The Registrar of PAU, Dr. Shammi Kapoor, praised FMC's contributions to providing comprehensive solutions in the farm and food sector, putting Farmers First in strategy, planning, and action plans.

"Scholarships such as the FMC Science Leaders Scholarship Program will significantly aid in the development of futuristic sustainable agricultural technologies by motivating the young innovative minds of scholars in institutions. Involving industry experts as mentors will improve students' skill sets and enable them to make promising contributions to the country's growth," said Dr. Kapoor at the event.

Dr. Sandeep Bains, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, PAU, praised FMC's initiative to assist university students in pursuing higher education and developing professional excellence in their subject areas. She emphasized the importance of PAU's collaborations with leading industry partners in various academic, research, and extension programs, as well as the importance of such collaborations in developing future students and the economy.

PAU also organized a special interaction between university postgraduate students and visiting FMC experts, which assisted the student community in exploring career opportunities in the agricultural industry in general and FMC in particular.
