4-Day Krishi Kumbh Begins in Uttarakhand

Krishi Kumbh begins on March 22 and will end on March 25 in Pantnagar University, Uttarakhand

With the Maha Kumbh around the corner, there is yet another Kumbh mela attracting attention – Krishi Kumbh. Also called Krishi Mela, the Kumbh starts today (March 22) in Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. This is a 4-day mela that will end on March 25. Farmers from various states are expected to participate in this mela.

Special Feature

The Krishi Kumbh is all set to provide high-yielding varieties of Zaid and Kharif crops to farmers. In addition, farmers can also buy flowering plants, medicinal plants, and saplings of fruits and vegetables in the Kumbh.

The mela, which opens at 10 in the morning and closes at 5 in the evening, promises to give farmers lots of knowledge, latest updates on agriculture development and varieties, and many amazing moments. However, this time, the University has not organized accommodation for farmers.

Also, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, participants are requested to wear face masks and practice social distancing in the mela.

Highlights of Krishi Kumbh

The Mela has been inaugurated by the Governor of Uttarakhand, Baby Rani Maurya, on the first day.

• On March 22 and 23, the mela will feature an exhibition of flowers, fruits, and vegetables, plus a contest.
• On march 23, 2 pm, the mela will feature an auction of Sankar calves, plus a program of dairy farming.
• On March 23, 3 pm, the mela will feature an exhibition on fisheries production, plus a contest.
• On March 24, 10 pm, there will be an animal exhibition and a contest at the Veterinary University.
• On March 25, 3 pm, everybody will gather at the Gandhi Hall for the closing ceremony of the Krishi Mela.

Apart from this, the Krishi Kumbh has organized a Krishi Clinic on all the 4 days of the event from 10 am to 5 pm.

All the safety protocols are in place due to the rising cases of the novel Coronavirus.
