7th Pay Commission Major Updates: Central government employees expect to hear from the government shortly concerning arrears of dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR), as well as an increase in DA/DR and home rental allowance (HRA) under the 7th Pay Commission. 

While the government hasn't officially announced much, it's assumed that official updates will be forthcoming shortly, especially since the Budget process for 2022 is still ongoing. In the meantime, numerous state governments have announced significant wage increases for their staff.

Will the fitment factor be increased to 3.68?

The Indian government is set to raise the fitment factor for central and state employees in the near future. According to media reports, an increase in the fitting factor will raise the minimum salary for central employees. Several employee unions have requested that the government boost the fitting factor from 2.57 to 3.68 times. 

Will govt. pay arrears worth Rs 2 lakh together?

The Union Cabinet is expected to debate the pending DA arrears, according to media sources. If the government decides to pay arrears, select employees could receive DA arrears of up to Rs 2 lakh in one go, according to a Zee Hindi article quoting Shiv Gopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM.

Increase In Basic pay

The base salary of central government employees will increase if the government increases the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68. The minimum wage will rise from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 in this situation.

Increase in DA to 34%

The dearness allowance for central government employees might rise by another 3% to 34%. According to reports in the media, the government may issue an official declaration before Holi. 

Government of Himachal Pradesh has announced a DA Hike

On January 31 (Himachal Pradesh Statehood Day), Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur proposed a 31% dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees.

"My government recently announced a new pay scale that will benefit 2,25,000 employees while inflicting a monetary load on the state exchequer of Rs 6,000 crore," he remarked.
