Under the aspirational block development project 2022–23 for the Surasyar and Pakherpora blocks of the district, this training is being carried out in partnership with the Sheep Husbandry Department, Budgam.
The training program plans to encourage young people to achieve the entrepreneurial mindset and skill sets that will enable them to start their businesses. The inaugural event was attended by 48 people from both aspirational blocks in total.
The event's primary guest, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chadoora Prince Noorul Hamid, thanked KVK Budgam and the Sheep Husbandry Department Budgam for organizing the significant skill development training program.
Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone, a senior scientist and the director of KVK Budgam, emphasized the significance of the training program for the improvement of the agricultural community.
Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Baba, the district sheep husbandry officer for Budgam, spoke about the contribution of the sheep husbandry division to the socioeconomic advancement of those involved in this industry.
Dr. Mir Nadeem Hassan, a scientist with the KVK Budgam Animal Science Department and the program's training coordinator, thoroughly explained the skill development program's goals and training process. The program kicked off with a welcome speech by Dr. Nisar Ahmad Nisar (VAS SDB Nagam).

One of the primary reasons rural youths choose commercial sheep and goat husbandry is the growing demand, increasing rate, and secured selling of the meat of sheep and goats.
Goats and sheep are significant livestock animals in India. They play a significant role in the livelihood of a significant portion of small and marginal farmers as well as landless laborers, especially in regions where crop and dairy farming are not economically viable.
