The deadline for updating Aadhaar details for free has been extended till June 14, 2024, allowing individuals to ensure the accuracy of their information without any charges. Residents can utilize the myAadhaar portal to upload or update their identity and address proof documents conveniently.

Recently, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced an extension of the deadline for updating Aadhaar details for free. Originally set for March 14, the new deadline has been pushed to June 14, 2024. This decision comes in response to the positive reaction from residents, providing them with additional time to avail of the service. The extension applies exclusively to updates made through the myAadhaar portal.

Free Online Updates Available till June 14

Residents can make use of the online update facility on the myAadhaar portal without incurring any charges until June 14, 2024. This extension offers individuals the opportunity to ensure that their Aadhaar details remain accurate and up to date. However, it's important to note that while online updates are free, offline updates at physical Aadhaar centers will still incur a fee of Rs. 50 until the said deadline.

Post-June 14, Revised Charges Apply

After June 14, 2024, individuals opting for online updates will be required to pay a nominal fee of Rs. 25 through the myAadhaar portal. Those choosing to update their Aadhaar details offline at physical centers will continue to pay the existing fee of Rs. 50.

Action Required for Aadhaar Cardholders

The UIDAI has urged Aadhaar cardholders to take advantage of this extended deadline and upload or update their identity and address proof documents on the myAadhaar portal. Failure to do so by June 14, 2024, may result in individuals having to pay a fee of Rs. 25 for updating their documents online or Rs. 50 at physical Aadhaar centers.

What Can Be Updated for Free?

Residents can update personal details such as name, address, and other information for free on the UIDAI's website or at Common Services Centers (CSC) online. However, offline updates at CSCs will incur a fee of Rs. 50.

How to Update Aadhaar Card Online for Free?

To update Aadhaar details online for free, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official UIDAI website.

  2. Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha, then click 'send OTP' on your linked mobile number.

  3. Enter the OTP and click 'Login'.

  4. Click on the 'Document Update' button.

  5. Read the guidelines and proceed.

  6. Verify your demographic details and upload proof of identity and address documents.

  7. Review the details before submission.

  8. You will receive a Service Request Number (SRN) via email for tracking.

Address Proof Update Process

To update the address on your Aadhaar card online, ensure that your demographic details match those on your Aadhaar card. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the myAadhaar portal.

  2. Log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP.

  3. Click on the 'Address Update' button.

  4. Select the 'Update Aadhaar Online' option.

  5. Enter the new address and upload the proof of address document.

  6. Preview the details, pay the fee, and submit.

Required Documents for Update

Ensure you have the following documents ready for updating your Aadhaar card:

  • Proof of Identity: Passport, Driver’s license, PAN card, Voter ID, etc.

  • Proof of Address: Bank statements, utility bills, passport, etc.

With the extended deadline until June 14, 2024, individuals have ample time to update their Aadhaar details online for free.
