Banks To Remain Closed From 24th-31st December, Details Here

The list of holidays includes a common holiday observed by all states on Christmas Day, December 25, which also happens to fall on the last Saturday of the month and is a holiday observed by all banks by default. On Sunday, December 26, banks will also be closed for the weekend.

If you have important bank work then do it now because many leading banks in India will remain closed in the coming week.

The list of holidays includes a common holiday observed by all states on Christmas Day, December 25, which also happens to fall on the last Saturday of the month and is a holiday observed by all banks by default. On Sunday, December 26, banks will also be closed for the weekend. 

Besides the two major holidays, banks in some cities will be closed for regional festivals on December 24, 27, 30, and 31. According to Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday calendar, Aizawl and Shillong will have a maximum of four days off among all major cities. 

Banks in Panaji and Shillong were closed on December 3 and 18 for the Feast of St Francis Xavier and the death anniversary of U SoSo Tham, respectively.  The holidays that fall on the other days of December, on the other hand, are not uniform across all states and are only observed in a few. 

List of bank holidays this month: 

  • 24th December:  There will be a holiday in Aizawl and Shillong for Christmas Eve celebrations. 

  • 25th December:  There will be official bank holidays on the occasion of Christmas across the country. Banks will remain close in Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram, Agartala, Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur and Kochi

  • 26th December: All banks across the country will be closed on Sunday for the weekend.

  • 27th December: Celebration of Christmas would continue in Aizawl and this day would be a holiday for banks.

  • 30 December: Banks would remain closed for U Kiang Nangbah in Shillong.

  • 31st December: There will be another bank holiday in Aizawl for New Year’s Eve.
