The Department of Posts (DOP) has introduced the option to open Monthly Income Scheme (MIS), Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS), and Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC) accounts in a significant move to modernize its services through DOP Internet Banking, effective from October 20, 2023.

DOP Internet Banking: Key Information

  • The newly opened account will appear in the Accounts summary after a brief delay and a re-login to Internet Banking.

  • Only one account type can be opened, and it will be registered in the name of the DOP Internet Banking user with nominee(s) from the linked Savings Account.

  • SCSS accounts can only be opened by depositors aged 60 or above. Those below 60 years must visit the post offices for SCSS account opening.

The closure of MIS, SCSS, and MSSC scheme accounts through Internet Banking will be introduced shortly. This development means that DOP Internet Banking users can now open all scheme accounts online, excluding Post Office Savings Account (POSA) and Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA).

The DOP encourages customers to explore these digital opportunities and urges post offices to promote the activation of Internet Banking and Mobile Banking among Post Office Savings Account holders.

This transformative initiative has been approved by the competent authority and is expected to streamline the banking experience for DOP customers.
