Delhi's Weather Outlook: Cloudy with Chance of Rain and Thundershowers

According to IMD weather systems and forecasts, various weather phenomena are expected across different regions of India.

Today, residents of Delhi are advised to prepare for a day with fluctuating temperatures as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a high of 35°C and a low of 20°C. The skies are expected to remain generally cloudy with the possibility of very light rain and thundershowers at a few places, providing some respite from the prevailing dry spell.

IMD Weather Systems and Forecast & Warnings

According to IMD weather systems and forecasts, various weather phenomena are expected across different regions of India. A trough extending from northwest Bihar to southeast Assam, along with another trough in westerlies, is anticipated to influence weather patterns significantly.

In the northeastern states, isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from March 27 to 29. This precipitation is expected to intensify thereafter, becoming fairly widespread to widespread, particularly over Arunachal Pradesh and scattered to fairly widespread over other northeastern states, as well as Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, from March 30 to April 2, 2024.

Western disturbances are also anticipated to affect the Western Himalayan Region from March 29. This disturbance is expected to bring fairly widespread to widespread light rainfall and snowfall, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from March 27 to 31. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted over these regions on March 29 and 30.

Isolated light rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh from March 27 to 31 and in Rajasthan on March 29 and 30 and East Uttar Pradesh during 29-31 March 2024.

IMD's Maximum Temperature Observation and Forecast:

IMD's observations and forecasts indicate varied temperature trends across different regions of India. Yesterday, maximum temperatures soared above normal levels at several places, particularly over Vidarbha, Gujarat, Marathwada, and Northeast Madhya Maharashtra, among others.

Currently, maximum temperatures are surpassing the 95th percentile of climatological values in certain pockets, including parts of Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, South Interior Karnataka, Gujarat, West Rajasthan, South Coastal Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh. This trend is expected to continue over extended areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, interior Odisha, interior Karnataka, and Kerala & Mahe on March 27 and 28
