The 'Flipkart Samarth Krishi' programme aims to provide farmers with market access and build their capacity, in line with the government's commitment to empowering Indian farmers and boosting the agricultural sector.

Furthermore, it will assist them in growing sustainably, becoming market-ready, and becoming a part of the mainstream economy through relevant partnerships. Farmers and FPOs will be trained and upskilled on technologies and best practises for improving produce quality as part of the programme.

For onboarding FPOs onto its e-commerce platform, Flipkart India has active partnerships and collaborations with several industry and government bodies, including the respective Departments of Agriculture for the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and West Bengal. Flipkart India has been able to source pulses, millets, and whole spices directly from farmers and FPOs, benefiting local agri-economies and the livelihoods of thousands of farmers across India.

"Flipkart India's association with farmers and FPOs is in line with its commitment to creating avenues for increasing the income of local farmers and helping them scale their value propositions on a nationwide level," said Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group.

The Flipkart Samarth Krishi programme will accelerate India's socioeconomic development and benefit everyone in the value chain, from farmers to consumers, by leveraging the power of technology, innovation, and e-commerce. The programme aims to have a significant positive impact on Indian agriculture and rural communities."

This programme, which covers over 100 commodities such as rice, pulses, whole spices, atta, millets, and so on, will help boost the local economy and provide a variety of quality products to Flipkart India's over 450 million customers. The Samarth Krishi programme aims to make the agricultural sector's digital transformation more inclusive by improving livelihoods and collaborating with 2,500 FPOs by the end of 2023.

ABY Farmers, Sathya Sai MAC Fed, Jana Jeevana, Nirala Herbal, Sahyadri Farms Supply Chain, and others are among the FPOs that have already joined Flipkart India. Flipkart India has trained over 10,000 farmers on product quality and food safety while also expanding their market access.
