Flipkart Starts Home Delivery of Mangoes in Karnataka

With the COVID-19 pandemic making people stay indoors, the online delivery market has taken a boost, with many items now being home delivered. One of the items now being home-delivered is perishable food items. Several large companies like Zomato, Amazon have started delivering groceries.

With the COVID-19 pandemic making people stay indoors, the online delivery market has taken a boost, with many items now being home delivered. One of the items now being home-delivered is perishable food items. Several large companies like Zomato, Amazon have started delivering groceries. 

Flipkart recently announced that it will start home delivery of mangoes in the state of Karnataka. It has signed. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Karnataka State Mango Department and Marketing Corporation, Government of Karnataka to deliver mangoes.  

Flipkart said that it will provide platforms to the Mango Board Farmer Producer Organisations/ Sellers. It will enroll farmers on the platform. It will provide training to the farmers on how to use the app. Post offices have also been roped in for the last mile delivery 

Mr Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, said, “These are challenging times for farmers and small business owners across the country, and we are pleased to bring together ecosystem partnerships which benefit larger sections of society. By coming together with the Mango Board, Government of Karnataka and the Indian Post Office, we are extending our capabilities to support the farmer community and also have consumers enjoy the mango season - something which they look forward to each year. These partnerships bring out the true potential of e-commerce and we are glad to have played a key role in uplifting the community and helping in increasing farmer’s income.” 

It will provide consumers with different varieties of mangoes in districts of Bengaluru Urban, Kolar, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad and Belgaum.  Consumers can order mango varieties like Alphonso, Badami, Apoos, Banganpalli, Kesar, Neelam, Himam Pasand, Sendur and Mallika, which can be ordered in batches of three kgs In recent times Flipkart has been in partnership with various FMCG and retail companies to diversify the products on its platforms.
