Gopal Ratna Award: Dairy Farmers can win up to Rs. 5 Lakh; Apply before 15 September

The Rashtriya Gokul Mission has been launched by the government for conservation and development of indigenous breeds - in a focused and scientific manner. The mission also envisages establishment of integrated cattle development centres, Gokul grams to develop indigenous breeds including up to 40% nondescript breeds.

The Rashtriya Gokul Mission has been launched by the government for conservation and development of indigenous breeds - in a focused and scientific manner. The mission also envisages establishment of integrated cattle development centres, Gokul grams to develop indigenous breeds including up to 40% nondescript breeds.

According to the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, milk production has increased in the country in the last few years. And Gopal Ratna Award is given every year by the Central Government to dairy farmers, best artificial insemination technicians, and milk producing companies for development of milk production sector. 

Objectives of Gopal Ratna Award

  • To motivate farmers to take up productivity enhancement of indigenous breeds of milch animals in a scientific manner.

  • To motivate Artificial Insemination Technicians to take up 100% AI coverage under Rashtriya Gokul Mission.

  • To motivate Cooperative and Milk producer companies to grow and instill competitive spirit.  

What are the Award Categories? 

The Gopal Ratna Award is given under three categories- 

  1. Best Dairy Farmer

  2. Best Artificial Insemination Technician

  3. Best Dairy Cooperative/ Milk producer Company/ Dairy Farmer producer Organization (FPO)

Eligible farmers/dairy cooperative societies/ AI technicians can apply for the award online, portal for award will open from July 15, 2021. And the winners for the award will be announced on October 31, 2021.  

Who are Eligible? 

  • Farmers who are maintaining any of the 50 recognized indigenous breeds of cow and 18 recognized indigenous breeds of buffalo.

  • Artificial Insemination Technician who has undergone training for at least 90 days for this work.

  • A Cooperative society/ Milk producer Company/ Dairy farmer producer organization that produces 100 litres of milk per day, having 50 farmers associated farmers.

How to Apply? 

The Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has invited applications for the Gopal Ratna Award from dairy farmers. All interested and eligible applicants can apply for this award on the official website of Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying by September 15, 2021.
