Government Announces Two Scholarship Schemes for Scheduled Caste Students; Details Inside

The central government has announced two scholarship schemes for students belonging to the Scheduled Caste category. These scholarships were announced by the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, MoSJE in the Lok Sabha yesterday during Question Hour.

The Central Government has announced two scholarship schemes for students belonging to the Scheduled Caste Category. These scholarships were announced by the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, A Narayanaswamy said in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

The central government will offer two major scholarships to SC students: the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme and the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (PMS-SC). In the Lok Sabha yesterday, Narayanaswamy highlighted that under these two schemes, scholarships are granted to SC students whose parent's annual income is less than Rs.2 lakh or 2.5 lakh.

The Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students provides an academic allowance to eligible students studying in Classes 9 and 10.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students

The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme is a Government-Sponsored Scheme. The scheme's goal is to provide financial assistance to SC students in post-matriculation, Classes 11 and 12.

The project aims to help them complete their education. SC Students from families with an annual income of less than Rs.2.5 lakhs are eligible to enroll for the scheme.

Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students

The Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme intends to provide scholarships to SC students whose annual parental income is less than Rs.2 lakhs or less than Rs.2.5 lakhs. The aim of this scheme is to retain students in school after Grade 8 and to assist them to finish their education in Classes 9 and 10.

The Union Minister of MoSJE further stated that the Post Matric scheme provides compulsory non-refundable fees, including course tuition and academic allowance, to students studying at the post-matric stage, that is Class 11 and onwards.
