Government Flags Off 1000th Trip of Kisan Rail

On Thursday, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the 1000th trip of Kisan Rail on Central Railway from Savda, Maharashtra to Adarsh Nagar, Delhi via weblink. 

The train from Savda to Adarsh Nagar Delhi had 23 coaches and transported 453 tonnes of bananas. So far, 3.45 lacs of agricultural products have been conveyed in Central Railway's 1000th Kisan Rail. 

In his address to the gathering, Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, stated that our country is agriculture oriented, and that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's capable leadership, a number of initiatives for the betterment of farmers have been implemented. 

He also highlighted Kisan Rail as one such scheme for transporting perishables such as fruits and vegetables to marketplaces in remote areas at a reasonable cost in order to obtain a higher price.

Tomar further stated that he is happy to be present on this occasion of the 1000th trip of Kisan Rail on Central Railway, just as he was present on the occasion of the 1st Kisan Rail and the 100th Kisan Rail at the hands of the Honorable Prime Minister. 

During 2021-22, more than 750 trips of Kisan Rail have been run carrying 2.7 lakh tonnes and earning revenue of Rs.103 crore. Since inception, Kisan Rail trips have transported 3.45 lakh tonnes and generated revenue of Rs.132.67 crore. 

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, stated that the Honorable Prime Minister always keeps the farmer at center of focus and initiated various steps for the betterment of farmers. 

Kisan Rail is one such initiative which allows farmers to transport their agriculture produce to distant market places economically and quickly. 

He also mentioned with pride about the banana of Jalgaon which has got GI-Tag.
