Those farmers whose crops have been damaged due to the recent untimely rainfall and hailstorm can register their crop losses by April 3 on the e-kshatipurti portal after registering their crops on the Meri Fasal-Mera Byora web portal.

JP Dalal, Haryana’s Agriculture Minister said, “The portal has been opened again so that all weather-hit farmers can claim compensation for the damage caused to their crops,”

He added the farmers whose crops are not covered under the Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojna should register themselves on the previously mentioned portals at the earliest. Dalal said the farmers would get a compensation of Rs 15,000 in case of crop loss above 75 per cent and Rs 12,000 on losses between 50 and 75 per cent.

On Thursday, the minister who visited villages in Rohtak took a stock of the situation and assured the affected farmers that their due compensation would be released by May.

He visited Mokhra, Madina, Kharkara, Ajaib, Bharan, Bahalba, Nindana, and Bainsi villages under the Meham Assembly segment and interacted with some of the affected farmers.

The minister directed the officials concerned to get the girdawari (survey) conducted to evaluate the scale of damage caused to crops in a clear manner.

Similarly, Sahnewal MLA Hardeep Singh Mundian in Punjab yesterday took stock of the wheat crops affected by the rainfall and announced to contribute a month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to provide relief to the farmers.

He said, “It is our social and moral duty to stand by them in their hour of need. Thus, I am contributing my salary to the noble cause as this would provide them some financial relief,”
