Weather Update: According to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast, Delhi will have a partly cloudy sky on Tuesday, with the possibility of very light rain and thundershowers. Today's minimum temperature is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius, with a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius expected.

On Monday, the minimum temperature was 23.6°C, which was five degrees below average, and the maximum temperature was 32.8°C, which was six degrees below normal. The humidity levels in the last 24 hours ranged from a low of 61% to a high of 80%.

For the previous two days, Delhi has had a partially cloudy sky and cooler temperatures than usual. Similar weather is expected till Thursday, according to the IMD.

Delhi's air quality was in the moderate range on Tuesday morning. The hourly air quality index (AQI) at 7 a.m., according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, was 131. The average 24-hour AQI for Monday was 124, which is on the low end of the moderate range. PM2.5, PM10, and nitrogen dioxide were the most common pollutants in Delhi's air.

An AQI of zero to 50 is regarded 'good,' 51 to 100 is considered ‘satisfactory,' 101 to 200 is considered ‘moderate,' 201 to 300 is considered 'poor,' 301 to 400 is considered ‘very poor,' and 401 to 500 is considered ‘severe.'

The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (Safar) of the Union Ministry of Earth Science said on Tuesday that periodic spells of rainfall are producing wet deposition of air pollutants and improving air quality.

"The Air Quality Index suggests that air quality is at the 'lower end of moderate,' with PM10 as the primary pollutant. Around 61% of PM10 is made up of dust (size > 2.5 micrometre). Peak wind speeds are expected to be around 15-18 km/hr for the next three days, causing moderate dispersion and keeping the AQI in the ‘moderate' or 'upper end of satisfactory' range. Moderate temperature (about 32 degrees Celsius) and mixing layer height (1-2 kilometres) provide moderate ventilation through convection, which improves air quality, according to Safar.
