The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest bulletin has warned of heatwave as well as rainfall and thunderstorm in many states in India. The detailed report is given below;
Heatwave Warnings
IMD has warned of severe heatwave conditions in the isolated regions of Madhya Pradesh and east Rajasthan from 15th to 18th April.
The states of Bihar and Jharkhand are also likely to experience heatwave situations on the 14th of and 15th of April. West Uttar Pradesh will also witness heatwave conditions on the 16th and 18th of April.
Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, and the western regions of Rajasthan will also undergo heatwave conditions starting from April 14 until April 18.
Rainfall Alert
Due to the influence of south-westerly winds traveling from the Bay of Bengal to lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is forecasted for the next five days in the northern provinces of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.
Light to moderate along with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Kerala-Mahe and Lakshwadeep. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Karnataka, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are also predicted to witness isolated/scattered rain during the course of the next five days.
Orange Alert in Kerala
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert in the district of Idukki, Kerala, on Wednesday due to heavy rain. The IMD anticipates very significant rainfall in the district, ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours. Over the last week or so, the state has seen moderate to heavy rains in various places. the public to be extra-vigilant, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
According to the IMD, the effect of a cyclone that started off the southern coast of Tamil Nadu is expected to bring severe rains.
The department warned that the summer showers will be accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts, which might be dangerous, and that the public should be particularly cautious, especially in places prone to flooding and landslides. When the weather is accompanied by severe gusts and heavy rainfall, an orange alert is issued.
