Insecticides are substances used to kill insects. They include ovicides and larvicides used against insect eggs and larvae, respectively. Insecticides are used in agriculture, medicine, industry and by consumers. Insecticides are
claimed to be a major factor behind the increase in the 20th-century's agricultural productivity. Fungicide, also called Antimycotic, any toxic substance used to kill or inhibit the growth of fungi that either cause economic damage to crop or ornamental plants or endanger the health of domestic animals or humans. Most fungicides are applied as sprays or dusts. Seed fungicides are applied as a protective covering before germination. Systemic fungicides, or chemotherapeutants, are applied to plants, where they become distributed throughout the tissue and act to eradicate existing disease or to protect against possible disease.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) umbrella within the framework of ‘Digital India’. National Research Centre for Integrated Pest Management (NRCIPM) has developed insecticide and fungicide calculators (IFCs) on web and mobile platforms.

IFCs provide information on pesticides with label claims, quantity calculations based on recommended dosages, methods of application and application technology against target insect pests and diseases to aid in judicious selection, sale and use on target crops.

Use of IFCs would enhance proper marketing and field use of insecticides and fungicides on scientific basis. IFCs are products of potential value addition developed under National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) and Crop Pest Surveillance and Advisory Project-Maharashtra (CROPSAP) and later extended to additional crops for dissemination of crop protection technologies under integrated pest management (IPM) umbrella within the framework of ‘Digital India’.
