Indian Air Force Day 2022: Chandigarh Hosts 90th IAF Day Celebrations, Grand Show of Parade & Choppers

Every year on October 8, Indian Air Force Day is celebrated. The Indian Air Force (IAF), also known as Bhartiya Vayu Sena, was created on October 8, 1932, in British India as an adjunct air force of the British Empire. The Indian Air Force is commemorating its 90th anniversary this year.

An 'Aakash Ganga' team of paratroopers in an AN-32 aircraft will lead off the fly-past.

The fly-past will happen at Sukhna Lake later in the day. The Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv, Chinook, Apache, and Mi-17 will be the helicopters participating in the aerial display.

As part of the IAF's 90th-anniversary celebration, soldiers are wearing the new combat uniform. It is believed that the brand-new combat uniform has elements that the Army unveiled earlier this year. This has updated all three divisions of the Indian military to disruptive digital camouflage designs.

10:12 AM Announcement of New Weapons System Branch 

IAF chief Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari remarked during the Indian Air Force's 90th-anniversary celebration in Chandigarh, "It's my privilege to announce that the Government has sanctioned the development of a weapon system branch for the officers in the Indian Air Force."

"We have inherited the proud history created by our predecessors' unrelenting effort, tenacity, and vision. It is important to recognize the contribution of the veterans who set this direction. We now have a responsibility to lead the IAF towards its centenary decade," the IAF chief stated in his address.

9:52 AM Chief of Air Staff arrives for IAF day celebrations

Vivek Ram Chaudhari, the Chief of the Air Staff, was given a general salute by the parade following his arrival. Additionally, three Mi-17V5 aircraft flew the dais in flag formation at the same time. He unveiled the Air Force's new combat uniform. 

9:40 AM After the band march, the parade paid tribute to the AOC-in-C of Western Air Command.

The mechanical transport team performed a short vehicle dismantling and assembly display at the event, which was followed by an air warrior drill team performance.

ALH Mk IV chopper flew past Rudra formation at the parade event.

President Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are present at Sukhna Lake to witness the aerial show. Before the air show, a ceremony was conducted at the air force station on Saturday morning.

The Indian Air Force is hosting its Air Force Day parade and fly-past today in Chandigarh, outside the Delhi NCR.

The Indian Air Force had to put in a lot of preparation, commitment, and effort to succeed in battle. The officers' persistence ensured that the force reached its objective and completed its task to place among the strongest in the world.

The main aim of this day is to pay tribute to the Indian Air Force and acknowledge the contribution and excellence they have presented in the field.
