Monsoon 2020: IMD Predicts Monsoon will Slow Down for a Week

Southwest Monsoon 2020 has covered Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat in the last two weeks. Now the monsoon is likely to slow down for a week due to as the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal that supported its advance has weakened, said the Indian Meteorological Department.

However, at the same time in parts of states like east MP and east UP conditions became favorable for further advancement of the monsoon in the past 24 hours. Rain and thunderstorm are likely to happen in a few places in eastern Uttar Pradesh and some isolated places in western Uttar Pradesh on June 17 said the IMD.

On Monday, after two weeks of severe heat has given way to raise the maximum temperature in part of North India, few places in Rajasthan experienced heatwaves. These heat waves will continue to prevail in the whole western Rajasthan as Bikaner emerged as the hottest place with a maximum temperature of 46.2C.

Besides, heavy showers will continue over Goa and Konkan and in some isolated places in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.

In the national capital Delhi the maximum temperature likely to remain below 40degress for the upcoming 3days while light rains will bring some relief. The temperature rose by 1C to 3C in many places of Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and by 3C to 5C over Jharkhand, west Rajasthan, West Bengal, west Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala.

This year IMD predicted a normal monsoon with 100 per cent of a long-term average. This news is important for the country which is facing the hardships of prevailing corona and shut of businesses due to lockdown reduced the growth this year. 

Now the unlock 1.0 started, and good monsoon will help the farmer arrange everything he needs for sowing without any problems, and good rains will boost his income next year and recover the losses he made due to the pandemic this year.
