The hardships of the common man are becoming severe day by day. First pulses then vegetables and now the prices of eggs and chicken are going to increase.
Fruits and vegetables became expensive due to heavy rain in many states but now poultry products (especially egg & chicken) are become costly because of bird flu.
According to traders, the demand for eggs has surged dramatically in the last month. However, there is insufficient supply. At the same time, the price of grains fed to chickens has not fallen. As a result, traders may raise the price in the coming days.
In addition, due to the surge in raw material prices, farmers engaged with poultry farms around the country have suffered huge loss. In several regions, chickens died due to bird flu and other diseases, which has also affected production.
At present, the price of a retail egg is Rs.7, with the possibility of increasing up to Rs.9.
Current Egg Price
According to the NECC-National Egg Coordination Committee, the cost of 100 eggs in Delhi is Rs.540. At the same time, in Ahmedabad it is Rs.515, in ajmer –Rs.512, Ranchi- Rs.557, Patna-Rs.552, Lucknow-Rs.557, and Varanasi –Rs.560.
If we go back at the beginning of the month, the average cost of 100 eggs was Rs.450-500. However, it has now risen to Rs.560 per hundred rupees.
Chicken prices have begun to rise, according to traders in Delhi's Murga Mandi Ghazipur. On Monday, the wholesale price of chicken jumped from Rs.190 to Rs.210 per kg. In the retail sector, it is currently priced between Rs.250 and Rs.260 per kg.
In the coming days, traders are preparing to increase the price by 10-20 rupees. Traders predict that by the end of the year, demand may increase by 30%.
Why is egg becoming more costly?
According to Nawab Ali Akbar, head of the Uttar Pradesh Poultry Farmers Association, demand for eggs and poultry often surges in the winter. However, supply is limited this year, while demand continues to thrive.
Apart from this, the cost of farmers is not coming down. In such a case, they have no choice but to raise the price.
The demand for indigenous eggs has suddenly increased. In such a situation, by the end of December or at the beginning of the New Year the price of eggs may increase.
