During the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi witnessed the Milestone Exhibition Gallery that was on display for the event and was also shown the Nagpur AIIMS project model by the concerned officials.

The hospital, whose foundational stone was also laid by PM Modi in July 2017, has been established under the central sector scheme Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. A statement released by the government said that Prime Minister's commitment to strengthening health infrastructure across the country will be strengthened through the dedication of AIIMS Nagpur to the nation.

The medical institute with cutting-edge amenities, OPD, IPD, diagnostic services, operating rooms, and 38 departments covering all main specialist and super speciality disciplines of medical science has been built at a massive cost of more than Rs 1575 crore. The hospital will benefit the nearby tribal communities of Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Melghat while providing advance medical resources to Maharashtra's Vidarbha region.

Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, state Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari were in attendance during the inauguration event.

Including the newly inaugurated AIIMS institute, PM further laid the foundation stone and dedicated various projects to the state of Maharashtra worth Rs 75,000 crore on Sunday. The list of these projects consists of National Institute of One Health (NIO), Nagpur and Nag river pollution abatement project, and national rail projects worth Rs 1500 crore.

The Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, which connects Nagpur and Shirdi over 520 kilometers, also had its first phase opened by PM Modi.

"Today a constellation of eleven new stars is rising for the development of Maharashtra which will help in achieving new heights and provide a new direction.
