Public Livestock Funding Is Urgently Needed, Says Parshottam Rupala

The minister was addressing the Grand Start-up Conclave in hosted in Hyderabad for entrepreneurs, investors, and sector specialists to exchange ideas and build connections.

The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Parshottam Rupala while speaking at the Grand Start-up Conclave in Hyderabad on Tuesday said that one of the main forces behind the rural economy is animal farming. He added that the central government encourage the youth of the nation to utilise technological intervention and clear the way for the development of this sector in India.

The conclave sought to support both established and new startups in the livestock, dairy, and animal husbandry industries.

According to Rupala, investing in cattle by the government is urgently needed and in order to increase the development of the livestock industry and make animal husbandry more lucrative for farmers and business owners, the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairy remains dedicated to working with all stakeholders.

Telangana's Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who also attended the event, told his address that the Vijaya Dairy was once regarded as a sick unit, but thanks to the assistance of the government, it now generates between 700 and 800 crores in revenue annually.

"In order for farmers in rural regions to gain from such conclaves, we ask the union government to connect with them", he added.

Adhar Sinha, Special Chief Secretary for the Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of the state said that Telangana's is the first state in the nation to roll out 100 mobile veterinary clinics that are IT-enabled and ready to serve livestock producers right at their doorstep.

The state is also among the best in the nation at implementing the National Artificial Insemination Plan, with 25.13 lakh inseminations completed so far this year, he stated.

Moreover, entrepreneurs, investors, and sector specialists gathered at the event to exchange ideas and build connections. It included a workshop to teach early-stage startups working in the animal husbandry and dairying industry the fundamentals of pitching, as well as how to develop their primary operating assumptions and impact narrative.
