To solve the issue of paddy stubble management, Punjab Agricultural University developed a low-cost and environmentally beneficial approach called 'surface seeding of wheat,' which combines paddy harvesting and wheat sowing.

Moga, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Kapurthala, and Jalandhar were among the districts visited.

According to officials from the Department of Agriculture and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, users of the technology saw good results even in harsh weather conditions.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU, led the team to Tarsem Singh's field in Saleena, Moga, where he had successfully implemented this method on his five-acre plot.

Wheat and sarson crops produced with surface seeding technology on farmer Gurbachan Singh's 33-acre field in Burj Deva Singh village (Tarn Taran) had no lodging and were weed-free.

Farmers from Srian Jattan (Kapurthala) and Batura (Jalandhar) shared similar experiences with the technique. According to Dr. Gosal, the crops sowed with surface seeding technology did not flatten due to the rain.
