Disabled Woman in Tamil Nadu Grows Organic Rice & Fruits for 30 Special Kids

Indra from Tamil Nadu, cultivated 25 sacks of rice per cycle for the shelter home and the remaining yields are given to the peasants and villagers. It was reliefs to her surrounding people in the pandemic time as their belly were filled with the organic supply.

Just like the diyas in Diwali marks for the auspicious and bright days coming ahead, there are many lanterns that shine up in others’ life and for their prosperity. D Indra from Tamil Nadu illuminates the lives of several others like her with food and shelter and sets an example for all.  

Indra was diagnosed with polio while she was just five months old, which put her into 90 percent disability. Her fourth year in life was not as such warmth as she had been admitted in a shelter home with mental and physical disabilities. As she was allowed to see her parents and elder sister only on weekends, she can understand the agony of separation and the value of love and care in life.

The novel- Covid 19 and the lockdown aftermath had put many in depression as most of them were addressing loneliness, instability, and mental struggles. 

The brave and kind-heartened Indra is now at 36th year ensured the welfare of her villagers by distributing food, which had reaped from her farming.

Indra runs Prem Illam, a shelter home for children with disabilities in Sirunallur village located in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu, where the dwellers are being fed with organic food. Approximately she takes care of 30 disabled girls in the home and the organization is functioning on donations.  

She cultivated 25 sacks of rice per cycle for the shelter home and the remaining yields are given to the peasants and villagers. It was a relief to her surrounding people in the pandemic time as their bellies were filled with the organic food supply. Though her farm grounds are at the outskirts of the locale, Indra gave frequent visits to the fields. It is the organization's property, where she and her companions' farm vegetables and fruits besides rice.
