  • NABARD Launches 4-Day ‘Arun Shilpa Mela’ at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh

    The Arun Shilp Mela was inaugurated on Thursday (February 2) by Chief Secretary Dharmendra in the presence of NABARD GM Partho Saha and others. Chief Secretary Dharmendra was impressed by the products - ranging from exquisite handicraft items to traditional handloom textiles, processed farm produce such as pickles, jam, honey, and mustard oil, beads and ornaments, and so on - displayed for sale in the 15 stalls set up by entrepreneurs from the state's remotest corners.

     

  • Raul Rebello Appointed as Managing Director and CEO-Designate of Mahindra Finance

    Mahindra Finance has appointed Raul Rebello as the new Managing Director and CEO-Designate, who will take over when current CEO Ramesh Iyer retires in April 2024. Raul is currently the COO of the company and previously had a 19-year career at Axis Bank. Mahindra Finance, a subsidiary of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group, has recently announced the appointment of Raul Rebello as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer-Designate. Raul will be taking over the role from Ramesh Iyer when he retires on April 29, 2024.

     

  • USDA Invests USD 9.4 Mn in Compost & Food Waste Reduction Projects

    The USDA is investing more than $9.4 million in 45 cooperative agreements to support innovative, scalable waste management plans aimed at reducing and diverting food waste from landfills. The American Rescue Plan Act-funded Compost and Food Waste Reduction (CFWR) cooperative agreements are part of USDA's broader support for urban agriculture through its Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production (OUAIP). Between 2023 and 2025, the projects will be implemented.

     

  • Sowing of Durum Wheat Variety Set to Increase in MP Due to High Global Demand

    Rabi crops are planted between October and December and harvested between April and June. According to some traders, the durum variety is used for porridge, semolina, and pasta and is in high demand on the international market these days. Officials said on Thursday that the sowing of durum wheat in Madhya Pradesh is expected to take place on 13 lakh hectares this Rabi season, up from 12 lakh hectares last year, amid the Russia-Ukraine war and the west scouting for imports.

     

  • Deadly Wildfires Threaten Over 750 Hectares of Forest & Farmland in Chile

    In Chile, wildfires have consumed more than 750 hectares (1,853 acres) of forest, destroying houses and threatening farms and forests as the South American country suffers from a summer heatwave in the country's southern and central swaths. According to the National Forestry Corporation, the fire has so far covered 550 hectares, an area nearly three times the size of Monaco, near the city of Chillan, about 400 kilometres (250 miles) from Santiago (Conaf).
