Narendra Singh Tomar Inaugurates NHB Centre in Gwalior

National Horticulture Board, mandated for integrated development of hi-tech commercial horticulture & post-harvest management/cold chain infrastructure in India, has centers at various parts of the country and at least 1 centre is there almost in every state for implementation, examination and coordination of its different schemes and activities. Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister said, “The horticulture segment has become the sunrise sector for Madhya Pradesh.

UoH-ARCI team develops nano-DAP fertilizer

A team of material scientists and plant biologists from the University of Hyderabad and International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), have developed an industrially viable dry method to generate chemically stable nano-diammonium phosphate fertilizer that is around 5,000 times smaller in size. The development can potentially reduce the volumes of fertilizer usage, while increasing phosphate intake capacity of seedlings.

ChemChina is aiming to raise around $10 billion from a Shanghai IPO for Swiss agrichemical giant Syngenta Group, is set to be the world's largest flotation this year. Syngenta valued at around $60 billion including debt.  ChemChina became part of Sinochem Holdings Corp last month, considering a secondary listing for Syngenta.  Syngenta is world's No.1 crop protection maker and No. 3 seed supplier.

Bharat Certis launches 6 new products

Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd launched 6 new products: Topsin, Nissorun, Delfin, Tofosto, Buldozer and Aghaat through a digital launch event named “Udaan” among its distributors. It was attended by nearly 1000 distributors of the company from all over the country. Mr. Dharmesh Gupta, Managing Director,  Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd  said  “our Vision is ‘Bringing Smiles with AgriScience’.”

Chemical manufacturer Sajjan India is up for sale

Sajjan India Ltd, one of the largest agro chemicals company, is exploring to sell a controlling stake. The company is expected to be valued at around Rs8000 crore. Sajjan is a leading contract manufacturer of active ingredients (Agro), electronic chemicals, specialty chemicals and intermediates having applications across agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and dyestuff. Sajjan India has an estimated revenue of Rs 1400 crore.

Private sector’s share in India’s seed industry expands to 65 %

The share of the public sector in seed production in the country reduced from 42.72 % in 2017-18 to 35.54 % in 2020-21, while the share of the private sector grew from 57.28 % to 64.46 per cent during the same period, rising role of private companies in India’s seed sector. More than 540 private seed companies that operate in the country, 80 have their own R&D. According to Federation of Seed Industry of India (FSII), Indian seed industry is worth Rs 18,000 crore and is constantly growing and has the potential to become a global hub.

Siba Prasad Mohanty appointed CMD of BVFCL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel has nominated Dr Siba Prasad Mohanty to be the next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL).  Mohanty is currently serving as CMD of HIL (India) Limited.
