On Friday, Tata Motors delivered 60 electric buses to Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL). Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel officially launched the electric buses yesterday at the Sabarmati River Front Event Centre.

The Tata Ultra Urban 9/9 AC buses will operate on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor in Ahmedabad.

Tata Motors stated that after delivering the 60 electric buses, each of which can accommodate up to 24 passengers, the firm would also assist in the establishment of EV charging infrastructure for these buses. Tata Motors had bagged the offer of delivering 300 electric buses to the AJL two years ago. These buses are part of the deal.

"With a consistent dedication towards modernizing public transportation and integrating sustainability in the development of futuristic vehicles, Tata Motors has led the country's move towards electric mobility," stated Rohit Srivastava, Vice President of Product Line for Buses at Tata Motors.

"The delivery of these buses will further strengthen our beneficial partnership with AJL and promote eco-friendly mass mobility in Ahmedabad," he added.

These fully electric buses have a maximum power output of 328 hp and a maximum torque output of 3000 Nm. The zero-emission buses supplied under the FAME II initiative provide greater comfort, luxurious interior lighting, safety, and clean energy with noiseless operation.

The Ultra Urban 9/9 AC electric buses also come equipped with regenerative braking, new-generation telematics, and a high-security Intelligent Transport System (ITS).

Tata Motors recently announced that it has received an order from Indian Oil Corporation to provide 15 hydrogen fuel cell buses.

Until now, the company has provided over 600 electric buses throughout several Indian cities. Tata Motors reports that the combined mileage of these electric buses exceeds 20 million kilometers.
