Stakeholders of Ayush gathered today at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi for a roundtable conference organized by Invest India’s Ayush Strategic Policy and Facilitation Bureau, under the guidance of the Ministry of Ayush. The conference aimed to explore the trajectory of Ayush's growth and its potential to emerge as India’s soft power on the global stage. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, set an optimistic tone for the conference, citing the increasing number of entrepreneurs entering the Ayush sector.

Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush stressed the importance of Ayush evolving beyond wellness to therapeutic wellness and emphasized the need for robust Pharmacovigilance systems to ensure product safety.

Harnessing India's Domestic Market Potential

Secretary Kotecha highlighted India's substantial domestic market and advocated for a focus on Medical Value Travel. He mentioned the formulation of Ayush policies in specific states and underlined the abundance of skill sets, infrastructure, and teams within the Ayush sector. Various schemes and initiatives driving the sector forward were also discussed.

Unlocking R&D Opportunities in Ayush Sector

Addressing the vast research and development opportunities in Ayush, Secretary Kotecha urged the simplification of Intellectual Property Rights processes. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, emphasized the global presence achieved through the establishment of GCTM and the transformative potential of technology in traditional medicine practices.

The roundtable brought together key figures in the Ayush sector, including Secretary Kotecha, Nivruti Rai, MD & CEO of Invest India, Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, and Dr. Rabinarayan Acharya, DG of CCRAS. Their insights enriched discussions on Ayush's growth and global impact, fostering diverse perspectives.

Commitment to Advancing the Ayush Sector

Dr. Suruchi Mittar, Vice President of Invest India, delivered impactful closing remarks, summarizing key takeaways and reaffirming a commitment to advancing the Ayush sector. Together, these key figures played pivotal roles in exploring investable opportunities and reinforcing the sector's strategic importance.

Glocal Approach Advocated by Invest India CEO

Nivruti Rai, MD and CEO of Invest India, emphasized the importance of a 'glocal' approach, sourcing locally while thinking and selling globally. She highlighted the need for India to align with the vision of 'Make in India' and 'Vocal for Local' initiatives, championing these initiatives for the Ayush sector.

A Vision for Ayush as India's Soft Power

The roundtable facilitated meaningful discussions on future opportunities across sub-sectors, Ayush’s global importance, and the urge to deepen collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush & Invest India. Stakeholders emphasized investing in localized/high-quality supply chains and seeking global investment to make the sector future-ready in alignment with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision.
