Weather Update: With rain falling in portions of northern India on Tuesday, there is a possibility of further rain in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar that will bring down the temperature in these states between December 29 and 31.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predictions, the chill is expected to increase further. Because of snowfall and rain on the mountains, cold wave is expected in most states of North India over the next few days.

The light rain or drizzle is caused by a Western Disturbance, which is visible as a cyclonic circulation over East Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan, as well as an induced cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and the surrounding area at lower tropospheric levels.

The hilly states may get mild to moderate rain and precipitation till Wednesday. At the same time, rain and snowfall is expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Uttarakhand is also expecting similar weather conditions from Tuesday to Wednesday. Until Wednesday, rain is expected across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the IMD, rain is expected in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh in central India, while rain is anticipated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal in the eastern region from December 29 to 30.

The Meteorological Department has forecast cold wave conditions in Bihar for two days, Wednesday and Thursday, while Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are likely to experience similar weather conditions between December 31st and January 2nd, 2022, and over north Rajasthan on January 1st and 2nd, 2022, according to IMD.

Light to moderate rain is expected in various portions of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan over the next 24 hours.

Light rain with isolated snowfall likely over Western Himalayas.  Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, Orissa, Vidarbha, and Sikkim, are expected to receive light rain. The lowest temperature in the Northwest is expected to dip by 2 to 3 degrees.

On 28th and 29th of December, isolated thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms are also likely over East MP, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh may also experience dense fog.
