The deadline for linking a PAN card to an Aadhaar card was extended by the government from March 31, 2022 to March 31, 2023. This, however, did not come without a condition. If you link your Pan and Aadhaar card after April 1, 2022, you will have to pay a fine.

If you link your Aadhaar and PAN card before June 30, 2022, you will be charged Rs 500. However, from July 1, 2022, this will be doubled.

From July 1, you will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1,000 to complete the Aadhaar-PAN linking process. CBDT issued a press release announcing this. "A window of opportunity has been granted to taxpayers up to the 31st of March 2023 to reveal their Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for Aadhaar-PAN linking without facing repercussions," the statement said. “As a result, taxpayers would be obliged to pay a price of Rs. 500 for the first three months after April 1, 2022, and a fee of Rs. 1000 thereafter when disclosing their Aadhaar."
