On Saturday, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) announced that conditions are improving for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in Kerala in the next 2-3 days. Heatwaves are expected to sweep across the country during the next five days, according to the weather service. According to the IMD, conditions are improving for monsoon commencement in Kerala over the next 23 days.

During the next 5 days, moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is quite likely to occur over Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep.

During the next few days, the rain will fall in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Heavy rain is also expected in Kerala and Mahe from May 28 to June 1, as well as in Lakshadweep on May 30.

On the 29th and 30th of May, similar conditions will prevail over the Southeast Arabian Sea along the Kerala coast and in the Lakshadweep area. On the 28th and 29th of May, it will also be present over the northeast Arabian Sea and the nearby north Gujarat coast.
On the 28th of May, dust storm activity in isolated areas is highly likely to occur over West Rajasthan. Surface winds of 20-30 kph are also expected over Rajasthan on Saturday.
