IMD Warns of Flash Flood, Heavy Rainfall & Lightning in These States; Issues Orange, Yellow Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall over the next two days in various districts of Himachal Pradesh. The meteorological office has issued an alert throughout the state for heavy rain and flash floods in most areas of the state.

These districts include Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, and Kullu.

According to a Media Report, Deputy Director of IMD Himachal Pradesh Bui Lal stated that the majority of the state's regions had heavy rainfall during the previous 24 hours and that this will continue in the area.

He said that during the previous 24 hours, rainfall in Nagrota Suriyan in Kangra received 97.8 mm, Una received 50.9 mm and Palampur received 50.4 mm. Flash floods were also caused by Friday's heavy rains in the Dharamshala village of Khanyara. The area's normal way of life was impacted by the flash floods. Many homes and businesses were destroyed. Senior officials evaluate the situation by visiting the village.

IMD Issues Rainfall Alert till September 6 for These States

The national capital is likely to experience generally cloudy with spells of sunshine rainfall during the coming days, according to an IMD advisory.

The meteorological office has also predicted that till September 6 there will be isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, and till September 4th, similar conditions will also be prevalent in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Orange Alert

The IMD has issued an orange alert for extremely high rainfall in Uttarakhand, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, as well as Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep.

It predicted that there would likely be isolated heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning across Chhattisgarh on September 6, over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from September 2 to 5, and over Odisha on September 5 and 6.
