Bank Holidays 2023: According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in the country will remain closed for as many as 11 days in January next year. The holidays include a few festivals, Sundays and second &  fourth Saturdays.

Bank Holidays in January 2023 

As mentioned above, on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, banks in India are closed. In addition, banks are closed on public holidays, national holidays, and regional holidays (which differ from state to state). Planning your visits to the bank in advance will be made easier if you are aware of bank holidays in advance.

  • 1 January 2023: New Year's Day (Across the country)

  • 5 January 2023: Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti (Haryana, Rajasthan)

  • 11 January 2023: Missionary Day (Mizoram)

  • 12 January 2023: Swami Vivekanand Jayanti (West Bengal)

  • 14 January 2023: Makar Sankranti (Several states)

  • 15 January 2023: Pongal/Magh Bihu (Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Assam)

  • 22 January 2023: Sonam Losar (Sikkim)

  • 23 January 2023: Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Jayanti (Tripura, West Bengal)

  • 25 January 2023: State Day (Himachal Pradesh)

  • 26 January 2023: Republic Day (All over India)

  • 31 January 2023: Me-Dam-Me-Phi (Assam)

Knowing the calendar of public holidays will help you to plan your vacation in advance. Along with several other holidays, January also marks Republic Day, a significant national holiday. In addition, each state may offer a distinct variety of regional holidays.
