Modi Concludes 9th World Ayurveda Expo in Panaji

The Prime Minister delivered the valedictory speech at the 9th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo on Sunday. The 4 day long conclave started from 8th of December and concluded itself with PM’s speech on the 11th of December.

The ninth World Ayurveda Congress concluded on the 11th of December with the Prime Minister's speech in Panaji, Goa. The PM addressed the audience conveying the importance of Ayurveda in the age of ‘Amrit Kaal’ as he appraised the Goa govt. to promote Ayurveda and Yoga tourism in the state. 

The valedictory session was attended by the Governor of Goa, Shri P.S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Vaidya Pramod Sawant, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Shripad Naik, Dr. Mahendrabhai Munjapara, Shri Shekhar, and scholars, experts in the field of AYUSH from all over the world along with other dignitaries. 

Modi emphasized the importance of Ayurveda as a medium for mass welfare and to promote the use of traditional medicine. India Institute of Ayurveda-Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine-Ghaziabad and National Institute of Homeopathy-Delhi have been made the stakeholders to promote Ayurveda Healthcare System.

“Today, there are limitless new possibilities in the field of AYUSH. Be it cultivation of Ayurvedic herbs, manufacturing and supply of AYUSH medicines, or digital services, there is a huge scope for AYUSH start-ups.” conveyed Modi.

Modi also mentioned ‘All India Institutes of Ayurveda' is set to be opened on the lines of AIIMS. AYUSH next aims to launch the ‘National Ayush Research Consortium’ in due time. Ayush Research Portal has already been set up to collect evidence-based data to promote the authenticity of ayurvedic treatment. It is set with 40,000 research studies amongst which 150 specific types of research are related to AYUSH during Covid.

The PM then appraised the Goa Govt. on taking Goa tourism to another level: “Another important aspect of the growing popularity of Ayurveda is Ayurveda and Yoga tourism. In a state like Goa, which is a hub of tourism, the tourism sector can be given a new height by promoting Ayurveda and Naturopathy.”

The World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo are set to witness the participation from more than 215 companies in participation with leading Ayurvedic brands, medicine manufacturers, and Ayush-related educational, Research & Development Institutions to promote traditional medicine around the world. This year, it is the ninth of its kind, conducted in Panaji Goa.
