Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that farmer incomes have increased more than double since 2014 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi set the goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.

Distributing mini kits of advanced seeds to the farmers and speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Yogi said that farmers of UP are well aware of the government's schemes that aim to double farm income.

UP government is launching several campaigns to raise awareness of the welfare schemes established for farmers in the state. Yogi gave direction to the agriculture department to set up camps in each district and advertise the government scheme for farmers.

Along with seed kits, the Chief Minister also distributed "Meri Policy-Mera Haath" certificates to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima, and also Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana recipients received approval letters for installing solar irrigation pumps. Besides, he flagged off 21 tractors for agricultural fields.

The CM also added that "double engine government" of the BJP supports "annadata" farmers and the agricultural sector maintained its stability as the world struggled to cope with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. There were some worries about wheat standing crops, but I reassured the farmers that combine machinery would be provided.

In order to help farmers, harvest their crops and transport them to buying centres, officials were instructed to put up a Covid helpdesk. He claimed that in order to reduce farmers' electricity bills, his government was giving them solar pumps.

Chief minister said that we have already half the electricity bill for farmers for the first time in the state. Now, when they will install solar pumps, the electricity bill will be zero.

He further said that Rs 876 crore had already been provided as compensation to farmers in 12 districts of the state whose crops were damaged due to floods.
