"Dear customer, your SBI Bank account has been stopped pending KYC completion; please complete your KYC in 10 minutes by visiting this link." If you received this SMS from a personal number, you should be aware that it is another KYC scam.

The State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest lender, used the microblogging site Twitter to warn its clients about the widespread incidences of banking fraud, which often results in individuals losing their hard-earned money. The bank urged consumers not to click on embedded links received through SMS in a tweet accompanied by an infographic. When receiving a text message, customers should always check for the SBI short code, according to the bank.

"Here's an example of KYC fraud using the #YehWrongNumberHai hashtag. Such SMS can result in a scam, and you could lose your money. Embedded links should not be clicked. When you receive an SMS, look for the proper SBI short code. "Stay watchful and #SafeWithSBI," the tweet stated.

According to SBI, the fraudster sends a text message posing as a bank or corporate representative in order to get the customer's personal information.

'KYC fraud is a significant problem that has spread across the country. The scammer sends you a text message posing as a bank/company representative in order to get your personal information," SBI warned on Twitter.

The State Bank of India has also requested that any incidences of online fraud be reported to the cybercrime department at https://www.cybercrime.gov.in/. The Ministry of Home Affairs is in charge of the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
