The Railways have finally resumed its operations with its special passenger train services amid lockdown from May 12. These trains have started running after nearly a gap of 2 months due to the coronavirus pandemic in the world. Though, the special trains are working with limited operations where 15 pairs of them have been running from New Delhi. They are connected with 15 other cities in the country.

Fares of Special Trains & Features

The fares of these special trains are same as of the Rajdhani Express trains. These trains will only have AC coaches and limited stoppages. They are running from New Delhi Station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.

How to Book Train Ticket?

Passengers can note that only online e-ticketing will be done by IRCTC website or app. Adding to it, tickets can be booked through Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK) licenses, post offices, common services centres (CSC) and computerised PRS counters.

Why train ticket booking request can get decline?

According to IRCTC, in the PRS booking system, there are maximum waiting list limits. Once all the confirmed tickets are exhausted, the waitlisted tickets will then be issued to the passengers. But, if the maximum waiting list limit is reached in the booking system by the time your payment success response is received from the bank, then your ticket will be declined. However, the amount deducted will be refunded back to you, that too with no deductions, in your bank account in 3-5 working days.
Thus, due to the above reason, your request for booking of the special train ticket could get declined.

No Tatkal Facilities in Special Trains

Passengers must know that there are no tatkal or premium booking facilities allowed in the special trains. The first chart for the ticket will be made 4 hours before the schedule of the train's departure and second will be allowed 2 hours before the departure. RAC and Waitlist will be generated according to the existing rules. But, if you have a waitlisted ticket, you will not be allowed to board the train. It is mandatory for the passengers to wear a face mask or cover their face & follow social distancing norms. Only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to enter or board the train.
