The IMDB Rating For Kashmir Files Has Changed

A message on the IMDb page of The Kashmir Files reads "Our rating system detected suspicious voting behavior on this title. To maintain the dependability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation has been applied."

With over 2 lakh votes, the rating stands at 8.3. While 94 percent of people gave it a 10, 4% of people rated it 1. A further note on the website read, "IMDb publishes weighted vote averages rather than raw data averages.

The easiest explanation is that, while we accept and consider all user votes, not all votes have the same impact (or 'weight') on the final rating. When unusual voting behavior is identified, an alternate weighting formula may be used to maintain the system's reliability. We do not reveal the actual procedure utilized to calculate the rating to guarantee that our rating mechanism stays effective."
