These States to Receive Heavy Rains & Light Snowfall
A low-pressure area, which is the remnant of a Cyclone Jawad lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts, said India Meteorological Department on 6th December (Monday). This low-pressure area will cause heavy to extremely heavy rains at the isolated places in Tripura & heavy rainfall at the isolated places over south Assam & Meghalaya, Manipur & Mizoram during the next 24 hours, said the weather department. A western disturbance lies in the mid & upper tropospheric westerlies, 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to cause the isolated to scattered light rainfall or snowfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in the next 24 hours.

Modi’s Farm Reform Reversal to Deter Investments in India’s Agriculture
India’s repeal of the agriculture laws aimed at deregulating the produce markets will starve its vast farm sector of much-needed private investment & saddle the government with the budget sapping subsidies for years, said the economists. Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government introduced the three laws meant to open up the agriculture markets to the companies & attract private investment triggering India’s longest-running protests by the farmers who said reforms would allow the corporation to exploit them.

Telangana Agri Minister Calls Out Piyush Goyal’s “lies” on Paddy Procurement
Terming the remarks made by the Union Minister for Food & Public Distribution Piyush Goyal in the parliament on Friday as lies intended to mislead people, State Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said that it was Food Corporation of India (FCI) that was delaying the acceptance of a custom milled parboiled rice from rice millers, citing shortage of space in its godowns & that the State government was not at fault at all.
