SarbanandaSonowal, Chief Minister of Assam emphasized that his administration has pledged a sum of ₹1,868, Minimum Support Price (MSP) for each quintal of paddy to the state farmers as the Centre has been securing the paddy from the farmers with a similar MSP. 

Leading a discussion to examine the modalities to fortify supply network for the procurement of paddy in the state, Mr. Sonowal requested the Food, Consumer Affairs Department, Civil Supplies and Agriculture Department to analyze the current framework, eliminate the bottlenecks and give a shape to easier programs for the farmers to offer their produce to the central departments.  

He recognized that the arrangement for selling the farm produce by the farmers and acquiring the paddy and different fundamentals by the Centre ought to be more straightforward which devoid of any procedural challenges.  

Sonowal additionally commented that his administration has decided to give ₹1,868 to the farmers as MSP for each quintal of paddy. "The state’s economy is principally reliant on agriculture. He simultaneously appealed to the farmers to offer the produce to the government accredited agencies that includes the Food Corporation of India for the Centre to guarantee MSP to the farmers. 

Looking at the role of FCI in paddy acquisition in the state, Mr. Sonowal asked Manoj Kumar Gogoi, FCI Executive Director to build more centres for paddy procurement past the current 39 centres in the state.

Sonowal realized that since the farmers develop their produce mostly in the rural areas, crop procurement centres should be present at the village level. As a result, Mr. Sonowal requested the FCI to set up more centres in every development block of the state which would likewise go about as crop selling points for the farmers. 

Sonowal likewise has requested the FCI to set up obtainment and selling points of the FCI in the Barak Valley Region on a priority basis.
