  • SKUAST to Launch Kashmir-Specific ‘KashMin’ Animal Feed Supplement

    This feed has been formulated keeping in mind the unique climatic condition of the region. This will encourage milk and meat production, and improve the profits from animal rearing. The formulation based on the studies of the mineral profile of soil, grasses, feed, and fodder over the decade will carry the name ‘KashMin’ and will be launched by the Faculty innovators from the Division of Animal Nutrition. “Knowledge-based technology driven agri-economy” is the motto that SKUAST stands by and under the support given by their Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganai, and the mentorship of Head, Division of Animal Nutrition, Professor Abdul Majeed Ganai of SKUAST-Kashmir.

     

  • Bill Gates to Support ICAR-IARI’s Research, Calls it the ‘Home to Agricultural Future of India’

    Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, mentioned India in his blog 'Gates Notes', wherein he said that India offers promise for the future and has shown that it is capable of tackling large issues all at once. In his blog, Gates expressed his belief that, even during a time of multiple crises, the world is capable of making progress on many large problems at once with the right innovations and delivery channels. Typically, he said, he would hear something along the lines of, "There isn't enough time or money to solve both at the same time."

     

  • IMD Issues ‘Heat Stress’ Advisory to Wheat Farmers; Max Temp Likely to be 3-5°C Higher than Normal

    Temperature likely to be 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal over most of northwest, west, central, and east India for the next five days, according to the IMD. Maximum temperatures in Gujarat, Telangana, Odisha, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have already reached 35-37 degrees Celsius. "This higher day temperature might lead to an adverse effect on wheat as this crop is approaching the reproductive growth period, which is sensitive to temperature. High temperatures during flowering and maturation reduce yield. The impact on other standing crops and horticulture could be similar," according to the IMD.

     

  • G20 Culture Working Group Meeting Begins at MCCC, Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh

    Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar, and Minister of Culture Meenakshi Lekhi were also present. The CWG Meeting is scheduled to last until February 25th. The exhibition 'Re(ad)dress: Return of Treasures' aims to demonstrate the spirit, need, and future of cultural property repatriation through selected examples of successful cultural heritage returns to India and around the world. The exhibition will examine the concept of repatriation through the lens of cultural objects, their histories, and the many stories that surround their successful return.

     

  • 61st Convocation of ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute to be Held in New Delhi

    IARI has also contributed for human resource development and has played a key role in the establishment of (a) Afghanistan National Agricultural Sciences and Technology University (ANASTU), Kandahar, Afghanistan; and (b) Advanced Centre for Agricultural Research and Education (ACARE), Yezin Agricultural University, Myanmar. The 61st convocation of IARI, New Delhi will be organized tomorrow in the Bharat Ratna Shri C Subramanium Hall of NASC complex. The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, will be the chief guest of the convocation. Union Minster of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kailash Chaudhary and Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will be the guest of Honour during the event.
